Greetings from Sharp Arts!

Welcome to the Sharp Arts Community ~

Inspired by Ian Sharp, Warwick, NY artist, musician and avid skateboarder, this blog will is all about connecting arts and community. Ian’s love of ‘the zone’ (what we feel when we are working on a piece, immersed in the creative flow) was contagious to all who knew him. His work, his music exemplified a sense of play as well as purpose and meaning. After his passing in 2012, friends and family came together to create something in our community, to further his intention of bringing more art, music, play to local youth. Project Knomad (a youth and community bridge through arts and skill share) was begun and continues to become more involved with community. This blog is another extension of Ian’s vision, as interpreted by myself – to connect community with Warwick, NY arts, music, creativity and self-expression. Art is life, baby! Let’s have more of it!

Sharp Arts Community blog will feature a local artist each month – someone in our community who loves being ‘in the zone’ – their story and their work. I look forward to connecting – as a photographic collage artist, I am always inspired by others and I really enjoy getting creative works out there for all to see!

Ian’s first, posthumous show, “Ian Sharp & Friends; A Gathering in Thankfulness” is ongoing this month at Amity Gallery. Join us, every Saturday and Sunday from noon till 4pm. Reception – Saturday, 11/8, from 5-8 pm. Come and be part of the art, bring a poem to read or a song to sing or just enjoy the work! Amity Gallery is located at 110 Newport Bridge Rd.
